In the .House of Lords, Lord Mount Temple moved that no credits should be. extended to Russia nor any commercial agreements with her negotiated till 'Russia has taken some steps toward ' liquidation of her debts to the British Government' and British citizens. '' He sai'd that anti-British .propaganda was increasing. The recent hunger marches. to London were not demonstrations by the unemployed, Shut were organised by ‘Soviet money.' ■Lord lempjemore eaidithat the Government was unable .to accept the motion, which would ?♦>. m> w-s - * advance Lord -Mount Temple's object. The question of debt and that of trade must be- kept separate and be (treated on their merits.
•Lord.. Londonderry (Air Minister) said that while .the' Government, had not weakened as against the Soviet’s reprehensible attitude, nothing was to be gained by Die “bjg stick’' policy. Lord Mount Temple" then withdrew his 6 motion. Hd said:, “If the ■Government applied the same methods tp Riiissia ‘a.s they are .applying to Ireland we would • meet, measure of aucpesfi.”. . . ....
