LONDON, November 1. A legal battle, involving millions sterling, has begun in the Law Courts. It is expected! t 0 last for five weeks. The British Celanese Co.v., Limited, is
suing Courtaulds, Limited, the’ artificial silk manufacturers. The) plaintiffs allege the infringement of their patents for the making cjt cellulose acetate silk by Courtaulds, Ltd. There arc no fewer than eight King’s Counsel in the case.
Counsels’ opening speech will take
three days. The documents in the case have required one year to pre-
pare. Courtaulds Ltd., deny tluit they Lave infringed the plaintiff’s patents, -whose validity they attack. They are also asking that these patents shall be revoked, as b'Tig rot novel, owing to there being other patents dating Tom the y< r 'IBB7. The eanit'T of these two companies totals £42.450,000.
