“THE GREAT LOVER.”
Comedy . and romance, cleverly mixed together, are the principal ingredients of Metro-Gcldwyn-Mayer’s “The Great Lriver,” which, wijl ho shown this- (Thursday) evening. The picture offers Adolphe Merijou, the suave, in, the title role which Leo ftitrichsteiri made so f'apious on the stage. Merijou provides, the romance, with his sparkling and- frequently, torrid love affairs with six beautiful girls; wfiile Ernest Torrence, Cliff Ewdaids arid ltosco Ates carry the main comedy burden. ‘Torrence is Menjou’s valet, Edwards a’ graiifjp opera pfess, agent, arid Afeis a stuttering reporter. Other players of prominence are. Irene Dunne, of “Cimarron,” as an aspirant J'or grand opera" honours,' who ' nearly burns hpr moral ' fingers in her ambition ;, Neil Hamilton "as 'the young lover \ Hale Hamilton arid Baclanova. “The. GreaH Lover” was " directed by Harry Deapiriont,’ of “The Broadway Melqdy, “Oiir Dancing Daughters,’' * ‘Qur Blushing Brides” and * ‘Dance. Foots, Dance” fame.
