FIRE AT FOXTON
SERIOUS DAMAGE OBVIATED. (l J er Press Association — Copyright,) FOXTON, October 27, Fire occurred at Mattar’s drapery shop in Moutoa Buildings, in the centre of the town, at midnight. The shop was destroyed, and Mattar’s tobacconist shop adjoining was damaged by smoke and water. Smart work by the brigade prevented a serious conflagration. The occupants of Whyte’s Hotel, sleeping overhead, made a hurried exit in their night attire. The damage in the hotel was restricted to smoke. The insurances are £llOO on the drapery business a n d £350 on the other stock, jn the Commercial Union office.
