19,000 PRISONERS NOW IN GAOL. (United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.) CALCUTTA, Oct. 27. The Viceroy, replying to a letter from Maulaiia Ali, a prominent Moslem leader, reiterated the Government’s intention of not releasing Gh'andi until he dissociates himself from the Civil Disobedience Movement. ’o It is generally recognised that the Disobedience Movement is dying under the firm handling of it By: the Government. ' The Indian Nationalist press pretend lhat there are over 1 sixty thousand Congressmen throughout India imprisoned. ' ' The actual figure 6f the Congressmen imprisoned is nineteen thousand. The number is rapidly falling. The majority of those released are refraining from returning to their old ways.
