ANTARCTIC FLIGHT

TO SAIL FROM DUNEDIN. LOS ANGELES, October 19. When inspecting their new monophv e for Antarctic exploratir 1, Mr Lincoln Ellsworth, th e millionaire airman and ■explorer, and his pilot, Bemt Balchen, outlined plans for a 2900-mile non-stop flight from the Ross Sea base to the Weddell Sea and return, probably in mid-December next year! They plan to sail from Dunedin in August next year, and then travel in a Norwegian motor ship to the Ross Sea base, from which they will sti rt the flight. Because of the impossibility of making a base at the Weddell Sea, it is necessary to make a non-stop return flight. They said that Sir Hubert Wilkins might accompany them to the Ross Sea base in the hope- of solving the geographic problem of the Antarctic.
