CLAIM AGAINST PAPER. COLONEL BELL’S EVIDENCE. (Australian Press Association ) SYDNEY, October 20 The Wizard Smith £20,000 libel action against “Smith’s Weekly’’ is still j;i progress ,the major portion of the evidence being technical, relating to the engine of Smith’s car, and the probable cause of the fire. Additional evidence has been taken on commission in New Zealand from Allan Bell (proprietor of “The Northlander ) concerning the conditions on the Ninety Mile Beach while Smith was there. This was read. Bell declared that he never saw Smith display any signs of cowardice.
