RELIEF PAY

ON LABOUR DAY. (Per Piess Association — Copyright.) WELLINGTON, October 20. The Minister of Labour to-day announced that it had been decided by the Unemployment Board that where in the ordinary course, Labour Day would have been one of the days on which relief workers would be allotted work next week, such workers will not now he required to work on that day. The Board’s certifying officers were circularised to this effect, he said, and were also advised that the mem are to he paid as if they had so worked, and that they will not he required to make up the time.
