CLIMAX REACHED
WORK ON STRATFORD RAILWAY. STRATFORD, October 15. j Yesterday afternoon work on the Stratford‘Main Trunk line reached its climax when the two ends of the line were joined in the No. 4 tunnel. Thus, after 30 years since the first sod was turned by the Hon. W. Hall Jones, the dream of many old settlers has been fulfilled. However, there is still much work to be done, such as ballasting and dismantling of equipment, the latter being no small task, and light rails have to he replaced by heavier ones in one or two places. There is also trimming work to he done in some of the batters in cuttings, which have to he sloped hack to avoid danger of slips, and although the line is to he opened officially by the Rt. Hon. G. W. Forbes on November 7, it is not expected that it will he handed over to the Railway Department until March 31.
