BIG POWER SCHEME
THE LOCKABER HYDRO PLANT. (British Official Wirelesp.) RUGBY, October 15. The Lockaber water power scheme draws on a catchment area of 303 square miles, and includes three major and fourteen smaller dams, also. eighteen miles oi' pressure tunnels, and a mile of pipe line and tail. fade.' The Ben Nevis tunnei, fifteen miles long and about fifteen feef ; in diameter, which was successfully , completed in 1929, is a feature,- of the scheme. It is' lined in mass concrete, and is the biggest thing of its kind in the Empire. It carries; water from Loch Traig un'der the mountains to a steel pipe line connected with a power house of the factories at- Fort William. The dainming ,of, Loch Traig will raise its level by forty, feet. It will submerge one and a half miles of railway, which has been lifted fortyfive feet. About a. thousand men .are
