In connection with the work of the local Deeds and Registry Office it has been pointed out that one effect of the closing of the local office would be the upsetting of the co-ordination between that office and the work of the Lands and Survey Department here. The two offices have much in common in conhection with their administration. The Deeds Registry office holds all the plans for freehold sections to which reference has to be made constantly by the Lands and Survey office officials, while the latter office holds all plans and particulars of the leasehold lands of the district, to which constant reference has to be made by the Deeds Office. The removal of the Deeds Office to a larger centre would involve much inconvenience and delay to the staff of the Land-; and Survey Office, while the general public will
also ho affected both in the expense and the delay. The increased cost involved will mean very little, if any saving in the administration of the work of the office.
