JAPAN ANSWERS GUERILLAS. SHANGHAI, October 8. Chinese reports from Pekin claim considerable success for volunteers cpe|ati.ng in Manchukuo, especially along the western section of the Chinese Eastern Railway. Here, it is alleged, they occupy Tuclman, Kaitung, Chengtung, Tailni, and are also besieging Tronan, which is being deteiulod bv six Manchukuo regiments. Japanese forces along the TaonanAngangchi ar.d Taonan-Shibping-chien railways have b en heavily reinforced, to prevent the volunteers making further progress.
.Japanese forces along the Taonanthe guerilla warfare to which end they are organising a new “Right-tails Corns,” tentatively fixed at 10,000 and capable of expansion as necessary. The corps is to be drawn from Chinese and Koreans, officered throughout by Japanese. The Chinese allege that General Muto is determined to exterminate the volunteers in the shortest possible time.
