ARRESTED ON VAGRANCY v CHARGE. NEW YORK, October 7. Heir to £60,000, Alfred Richard Hugo formerly an electrical overseer in the British Navy, remained jobless, homeless and hungry in New York, despite the possess : on of documents to prove his title. He was arrested with forty other vagrants who were seeking shelter for the night from the rain in a subway station 1 , and charged with disorderly conduct by littering the station. jl The document showed that a solici■tor,.Mr H. Bincombe, of Plymouth, ” England, had' written Hugo that his uncle, John Pike, a South. African diamond miner,, had made him heir. Because, however, Hugo had taken; out American citizenship papers, the British Consul refused him passage money for home, so that he could collect his fortune. Said Hugo; “I am rich, but starving just the same.”
