Cook ifnd McCorkindale both weighed 192 pounds. McCorkindale- was better in the early rounds and was immediately agressive a'id steadily bombarded the Australian, whose heavy swings were easily evaded. Cook in the fifth, shook McCorkindale who recovered well and delivered one of his famous right hand 1 haymakers, which would have downed r'nv othei he ivy weights. Cook kept his feet, and continued gamely until the eighth, in which one particularly Ravage right caught McOorkirdnle full on the jaw. McCorkindale now proved his superiority. In the ninth round he damkgfid’ Cook’s eye which was streaming with blood when the ienth began. Cook definite this handicap f'Mielit furiously, necessitating McCorkindale’s utnio-t exertions to defend himself. It was- a trrrfh'’ counter which was loudly applauded. McCorkindale won.
