The entry was a fairly heavy one, and included 171 head from the North Island and a number of largo drafts from the south. The quality was good, but the sale was nevei spirited. Extra heavy bullocks sold to £ll 7s 6d, prime (£9 2s 6d to £lO 2s 6d, medium £6 15s to £8 ss, inferior from £5 10s; best heifers jto £9 7s 6d, prime £6 15 to £8 ss, others from £5 5s ; heavy cows to £8 12s 6d, prime' £6 to £6' 16s, ligh, from £4 ss, inferior, from 455. The entry of fat lambs was 524, compared ’ with 520 .last week. The quality was better, and there was a rise in values by Is 6d a head over a steady sale. The price P e i' pound was on an average 6id, a halfpenny better than values last week.' Top price was 18s lOd, secured for tko three best of a fine line sent in by ,J. F. Nicklaus (Yaldhurst). There was a heavy yarding of fat sheep, nearly half being shorn sheep. There' was a distinct easing tendency in prices, consequent upon a drop in skin values, together with the large supply penned. Store sheep were more numerous representing all grades. The market was depressed owing to the doubtfu lamb market. Sheep suitable for home killing sold freely. There was a medium yarding of fa pigs. Pork was slightly firmer, and bacon sold at late rates.
