OUTSTANDING PAYMENTS

GENEVA, October 7. Acknowledging the Loans Committee’s memorial on 20th- September the Council passed a resolution reaffirming the grave concern with which it views the continued failure of certain States to meet their obligations, urging them -to resume full payment at the earliest date, and requesting the Finance Committee to advice whether remedial action can be taken at present.
During th e discussion, a Polish proposal for an international press conference to consider the co-operation of the press in organisation’ 'of world peace, , M?., Gameron,. .declared., that Australian newspaper proprietors and journalists sympathetically viewed the problem, , avoiding the publication of news either false or likely to be hatirtful in a national crisis. &
