This bright comic opera of Sir Edward German’s depicts life of the Elizabethan period, with its gallantry and knavery. Merrie England is considered one of the best of light operae, being brimful of good music and smart repartee and does not possess a dull moment.
The cart has been well selected and the best of the talent of the district .is included. 'The scene is the Thames and Windsor Castle where- love and intrigue go hand in hand, resulting in challenge and foils. The orchestra, i s e quallv proficient and includes Messrs Eric (clarionet) and Clarence Mo?s ( cello). Booking is well in advance, for the enthusiasm of the society and the efficiency -of the performers has caught the lovers of good entertainment. The prices have been reduced to suit the times, viz. 3s and 2s.
