NAVAL DEFENCE. (Australian Press Association.) MELBOURNE, October 7. The Minister of Defence (Sir George Pearce) admitted that Mr’ Bruce would discuss .with the British Admiralty the question of naval defence. Mr Pearce added that the present naval defences could not he considered satisfactory. VICTORIAN GOVERNMENT DEFEATED. MELBOURNE, October 7. The Hill Government were defeated in the Assembly by 27 to 16, when the Leader of the Oppositoin (Mr Butler) was successful in having progress reported on the Wheat Storage Bill. MiHill earlier threatened that the Government would have to seriously consider its position if the Bill was introduced by the Leader of the Opposition, as a private measure and was passed. VICTORIAN REVENUE. MELBOURNE, October 7. In the Assembly, Mr Hill stated that the estimated revenue for 1932-33 -was £10,056,807, the estimated expenditure £11,244,300; the estimated deficit being £1,187,493, compared with £1,063,360 last year. The unemployment position has shown a marked improvement, and the seasonal outlook was encouraging and there was every prospect of a i' e_ cord wheat harvest. v
