ADDINGTON STOCK SALES. BEEF PRICES EASIER. (Per Press Association — Copyright.) CHRISTCHURCH, October 6. A further drop of 10s to £1 a head occurred in the fat cattle section at theAddington market. The entry was large and contained heavy entries from Otago and Southland. The spring lamb offering was exceptionally large for an October yarding, and was substantially more than butchers needed. From the outset of the sale a fall of 5s a head was apparent. An average store sheep yarding came forward, and better competition saw values rise. There was a full supply of beef. Competition was irregular. There was a general easing in prices: up to 20s per head A bigger percentage of medium quality was yarded. Best heavy bullocks sold up to £l3 12s 6d ; prime £lO 5s to £ll 2s Gd; prime medium weights £9 15s 4d to £lO 2s 6d; best light weights £9 15 s to £lO 7s Gd; best heifers and young cows £7 5s to £9 12s Gd; medium'cows £5 10s to £G ss; inferior cows from £3 2s Gd. Best heavy lambs sold to 18s 7d; prime 12s Gd to 15s; light from 10s. Store sheep were in small supply. The demand was firm for all classes, owing to the abundance of grass at present. Up to U>s 7d was paid for ewe hoggets, the sheep being open-woo.led and above the average. Ewes and lambs sold more freely, and were inclined to be firmer. The best price was 8s bet. There was a medium entry ol powers and baeoners. .Pork was easier, and bacon sold at late rates.
