WITH BROKEN LEG. MOTOR-CYCLIST'S LONG RIDE. WELLINGTON, October 3. Although he had fractured his right leg when his motor-cycle skidded on some loose metal on the Rimutaka Hill yesterday afternoon, Mr C. Russell, a storeman, living a t 11 Frederick Street, remounted the machine and rode it back to Wellington. When the cycle skidded Mr Russell and a woman companion who was seated on the pillion were flung into the roadway, but the pillion-rider was unhurt. Mr Russell drove to his home, and was afterward taken to the hospital by the Free Ambulance. _ THROWN FROM CYCLE. TWO YOUNG MEN INJURED. PALMERSTON NORTH, Oct. 3. 'Thrown from a motor-cycle this afternoon, Edward Carpenter, aged 25. and Patrick Polenski, aged 27, were later admitted to the Palmerston North Hospital. The accident ‘ happened near the Newbury Dairy Factory, a short distance from Palmerston North. Polenski. who was in tlie sidechair of the cycle, received head, shoulder and forearm injuries. His condition i s serious. Carpenter, the driver, received injuries to his shoulder and forearm. His condition is satisfactory.
