The League -of Nations Assembly, this afternoon,' elected three non-pei-jnanent members, of the Council. Poland was re-elected with forty-eight votes, out of a total of and Caecho-Slovi)ki a and Mexico with for-ty-six each. Australia nlext year may seek election to the League Council. Mr Hughes, in the absence of Mr B'ruce, conferred with the Parliamentary Foreign Secretary (Captain Eden) as to the nationality of women. Mr Hughes was instructed to adhere to the policy in which the principle is accepted that a married woman does not lose her nationality ‘ without the consent, provided the Imperial and Dominions’ Government agree to' similar action. WORLD ECONOMIC CONFERENCE. RUGBY, October 3. ■The League of- -Nations- Council's organising 'committee, /for the world economic Conference at Geneva, to-day decided the cohfei'ence should take place at Ldndoli, but rio date has been fixed.
