CANOPUS DISPUTE
CAPTAIN’S ACTION RESENTED. (Per Press Association — Copyright.) AUCKLAND, Oct: 4. . Owing to a dispute with the crew the. Westport Co'd Coy’s steamer Canopus is held up here. It is stated the hold-up is the result of a private dispute with the master of the vessel. According to the men, two. of their number were searched by the captain on the ground that stores had been previously missed. . The remainder considered this an unjustified slight, and protested. The vessel was to have sailed for Westport at ten p.m. yesterday, but cargo work delayed her for another hour. The crew then refused to take the vessel to sea until some amends were made to the two" men. The ; crew will he paid off to-moi tow and if a new crew is not -forthcoming the vessel will be laid up. ■—MOW
