Four horses came down in the -Centennial Park Handicap, namely Queen Sal, Winera, Le Justice and Bonnie June. The ,lookers, Donoghue, Davidson, and Stead escaped with concussions and shock but Lightfoot received .concussion of the brain and a probable fracture of the skull. The horses escaped injury excepting Bonnie June which damaged its heiAf .and is slightly lame, The stewards held an injury and decided that the jockey, J. Pike, was blamcaible for interference and cutting across too sharply on Burracootbop iand suspended him for two months, thereby preventing him taking part in the Melbourne carnival, Pike’s suspension caused a sensation after Pike’s wonderful run of success. In the McOarten describing his ride on Denis Boy said he had a beautiful run all the Way and gave his mount plenty of time to settle down and find his legs, and half a mile from ’home sent him along at his top. Denis Boy responded gamely and lasted long enough to outsuay Rogilla. McCarten was without a mount until last Saturday. Hiistoria -and Gold Mag were prominent throughout the Metropolitan. The latter showed to much better advantage than on Saturday and finished sixth just behind Satmoth, which was very popular at the weak end, hut was not quite capable of the task of winning the Metropolitan. Veilmond, Tashio, 'Salvador and Pretzel ran poorly and finished well back. Cliide was last. The New Zealanders Might and Splutter finished in the rack in this race. In the Grantham Stakes Grecian Prince wheeled round at the barrier and took no part in the race. Hauwiri lost ground at the start and finished in the rear. In the Squatters Handicap, Havering turned round at the harrier and took no part in the race.
