TWO LIVES LOST
WAS IT MURDER ? OVER MAN’S JEALOUSY. (Australian Press Association.) October 3. Two young peopie were drowned in the Torrens River. The victims were, Ethel Wright, aged 17 years and Jack Levere, aged 20. The bodies have been recovered. Tne police later arrested Norman Neweil, charging him with murder. He was remanded.
The story, as related in the Police Court to-day, was that Miss Wright, Jack Levere, Newell and other s were out boating. Newell had objected to Miss Wright paying attention to other young men, and lie threatened to tip her into the water. She allegedly defied him, and he forthwith - bundled her into the river, where she was drowned. Levere lost his life attempting to save her., Newell gave himself up, saying that he lost his temper.
Newell,' four months ago, was found on his own wife’s grave suffering from poison, but he recovered. His wife had suicided by taking poison.
