LATE LOCALS
The Gael arrived from ’the north last night at 9 o’clock and sails for Wellington to-morrow morning at 10 o'clock. |\ Members of the Croquet Club held a gift afternoon yesterday at St. Andrew's Halil 1 , when there was a good attendance, of members. During the afternoon a competition was held which was won by Mrs Michel, and musical nuinoers were rendered'- by Mosd'inePaterson, Harrison, Pa rkh ill and Ohesterma-n. A number of useful arm-, clcs for use in the pn.viFon were liniided in, and in addition Mrs Michel presented a Club flag. The meeting also dealt with matters in ronroction with bhi> Club, and it was start'd that- the ground would be available for play at the end of next month.
