Due to the high duties placed on Baltic pine 'Sri Australia, there are now. rosy prospects for a revival df, New Zealand’s timber trade/ with the omu'on wealth', according to Air James O'Brien, Member for Westland, who returned yesterday from a mission in Australia -to further New Zealand’s export timber trade. .To regain its, n’ace, however, rimu must be properly -seasoned. Mr O’Brien was assured by merchants that the principal reason for the loss of th e market had been that timber was. sent over -in a green- condition. From what he, “saw after . a month spent in -Sydney, Brisbane and Melbourne, Mr O’Brien does not think Australia is yet round the corner.
