The local unemployed rioted and v*t4ned th e police outside the Stratford r Mt/n Hall whilst the West Ham munijfljjal council 1 were receiving a • •deputation protesting against their cuts in Tf'the Poor Law relief. Four policemen were' hit, and nine arrests were made. The council to’.d : the deputation that they could not restore t)he cuts. They promised that al] of reported cases of hardship would be specially considered.
