INCREASE IN PUBLIC DEBT. (Australian Press Association ) SYDNEY, 'September 22? The Auditor General’s report concerning the finances of New South Wales, states that the public debt during t'he year increased by 232 millionsbringing the. total State public debt to 3032 millions. Receipts for the unemployment relief fund for 12 months were over six millions compared with four and a quarter in the previous year. Uinterest payments amounted to £15,726,989. The report adds that 83 per cent, of the unemployment relief tax was spent on food relief. The Family Endowment Fund faded to meet the 'claims and expenses by £1,068,006, and at June 30 was £2,498,£7B overdrawn. Income tax decreased by £2,772,334, and at the close of the year £1,413,699 was overdue, chiefly "because of the barricading of the taxation office during the conflict wit. f,h e Federal Government. Between 2(i and -30 men were employed for five weeks at £6 10s each to guard the office.
