The biTth rate, which has been on the decline in Britain, shows an increase in returns by the R«-! giistrar-General for the quarter ended Uune 30. . There were. in that period 165,466' births; ih England and Wales, 16906 more than in the corresponding quarter last year, which corresponds to the annual rate of 16.6 per thousand.
