Gold'ingham (Palmerston North) was elected chairman. The objects of the Alliance are for the protection of ■commercial road transport iii New Zealand. Messrs T. W. Hercock (Napier), J. B. Cnllen '(Ashburton), A. ,S. Baiiy (Auckland), E. W. Harris (Kaikoura), S. A. Golclingham (Palmerston North), F. A. Hooker •{•New PJymOuth), and J, Fabling '(Wellington) ■ were appoint*, ed as a Council to control the’affairs' of the Alliance. H. J. Knight (Wellington) was appointed 'secretary and organiser. ■Mr J. S. Hunter (Commissioner of Transport) attended the meeting and congratulated those present on organ-, ’ ising as a national body, which could) 'be of real benefit in placing their /policy and views before the Govern---ment, and (in' many others wavs. He. .'stated the 'intention of ■circulating proposals for' the control of goods services as early as possible.
