BUTTER EXPORT
AUSTR, ALIAS TOTAL INCREASES. COMPETITION FOR DOMINION. ■ (Australian Press Association.) CANBERRA, September 22. * - The annulal report of the Dairy Produce Control Board reveals that 9L;086 tons of butter were exported from Australia, last year, this, being an incease of 17,335 tons over the previous: year, and of the total 83,973 tons went to the United Kingdom. 1 The report states that the average weekly pi-ioe of the Australian butter shipped up to June 30th., 1932, was 104 s fid per owt., as compared with lids per cwt.,-for 1930-31. The lower price was due tA depression and -to increased Continental competition. The report stated that the quality of the Australian butter was high,, and that there was an entire absence* of complaint. :U!I The exports of cheese were 3,378 tons which was slightly below the previous year. j m The Board emphasised that as a result of the Ottawa preferences on butter, cheese, and eggs, local and other Dominion exporters should, obtain a still larger share of the British trade in future.
