A RUMOUR DENIED. (Per Press Association — Copy right.) WELLINGTON, September 21. It was reported that the New Zealand Government has entered into «.u arrangement with the Imperial Government, to undertake an immigration scheme with the object of absorbing some of the surplus population of the United Kingdom. The statement has been circulated that the Imperial Government has agreed to make available some millions of pounds at a small rate of interest in order to enable the New Zealand Government to finance the scheme. '|')^, matter was mentioned to Hon. G. Coates to-day but he said there was no foundation for the suggestion. Ther-question of immigration, he said, had naturally been discussed at Ottawa, but no agreement had been entered into.
