Ross, in the face of. discouragement and ridicule, and after! long, patient research into the malaria! of birds and human beings, to inden-; tify the Anopheles Mosquito as "a; carrier. In 1899, after ai visit to West Africa, Sir R. Ross became Pro-: fessor of Tropical Medicines at the; University of Liverpool. Visits byhim followed to malarious districts alii over the world, including Panama,, Mauritius and Cyprus.
