N.Z. OWNERS CRITICISED. LATE SCRATCHINGS AiT SYDNEY. - --SYDNEY;--September 18'f The New Zealand horse, Peter Jackson, which \Wal9 belatedly, scratched from the Metropolitan Handicap yesterday, caused a lot of adverse - comment, says the “Sunday Sun,” which declares: “Some of the New Zealand owners are distinctly unpopular due to this sort of thing.” v The newspaper argues that a horse of this calibre should have been relieved from iso important an engagement when the first acceptances fell due, a fortnight ago, which would have saved the sporting public thousands of pounds. iSome of the owners, says the “Sun,” do not show the slightest consideration for the racegoers, who make it possible for the racing game to live, and for New Zealand horses to come here and win rich prizes.

Peter Jackson’s trainer gives the explanation that it was intended ®ill along to run the gelding in the Weight-For-Age isvents, only at Randwick.
