The minutes ■of the previous meeting were ,read and confirmed and the outward correspondence approved. Inward correspondence was dealt with as follows : From Mr Main, Kuiow, forwarding consignment of 60,000 salmon eggs. —Replied to. North Canterbury Acclimatisation Society • forwarding quo,tjation for pheasants.—Received. <R. A. Wilson;- Bulls, : asking if any petrels had been blown ashore <m our coast line during the last rough weather. —Replied to. /Mr A. Cederman’s report on ranging activities was adopted. The N,Z, Acclimatisation Societies’ Association, asking .if the Society Inch any remits to place befor e - the conference this year.—Replied to. Southland Acclimatisation S°ciety, advising despatch of 500,000 brown trout ova,—Replied to. W. H, Tindall Ltd., asking for list of last year’s fishing license holders. After discussion it was decided to hold (the usual monthly meetings oil the first Friday in each month. From General Post Office, Wellington, forwarding cheques for deer and game licenses issued last season.—Received, From ian anonymous correspondent advising Society of depredations oi poachers in the vicinity of Okarito.— It was decided to hand tihe information to the police to take any action necessary. From W. T. Jackson re culling ir iSouth Westland and offering his services for same.—Received and filed foi reference. From Grey Society, advising that the question of closing the fishing season one month earlier does not meet with the approval of their members.—Received.
The president reported to the meeting that advice had been received of an improvement in the condition of Mr D. J. Evans. It was decided to forward a letter to Mr Evans expressing the best wiglhes of the members and hoping for a speedy rostorat'on to his usual good health. .* . lit was decided to . grant complimentary fishing licenses to the police officers, and, at the same time requesting their hearty co-operation in curtailing the lillici.t taking of game and fish. Mr Walter Thompson, of Ross, was recommended for appointment as hon. ranger.
