The Waro co-operative miners’ terms were that th e Wilson’® Cement- Coy. should restore their original order of 800 tons of coal per week, for the fbrtnight. instead of 400 tons, to which it® supply ha® been reduced. Wilson’s Cement Coy. declined to accede to the request. A start was therefor e made this evening in, withdrawing the pumps from the mine, and within ten- days all of tihe other gear will have been lifted, leaving the mine at the mercy of flood water invasion, and similarly menacing" the adjacent mino of the Hikurangi Company, which fa on a lower lov®l, No amelioration of the position Is at present apparent, and the outlook for the community at Hikurangi, Whangarei, and other northern district® is very disquieting.
