OF MANCHUKUO CAUSES CONCERN IN CHINA ’. V' . ; : ; i: - (United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.) SHANGHAI, September 14. The stage is set for the Japanese Government’s recognition of the, new State of Manehukuo (Manehuria). The signatures are being >affix'ed to the histone document at eleven o’clock on Thursday . morning. This is to be followed by the appontment of General Mnto as Japan’s ambassador of the new state.
The Japanese Government is fully aware of the serious consequences and repercussions of this ceremony, but no serious disturbances are anticipated until Sunday. There are preparations for a. mass demonstration in Shanghai on Sunday, which are clausing a precautionary mobilisation. 'Sunday is the anniversary of the Japanese entry into Manchuria.
Although, China' is still pinning her faith' to the of Nations,, she will address ...identic notes to the League of Nations and to the signatories to the nine power treaty (maintaining China’s integrity) involving their aid. ' If no iaid is available to her from the nine .power treaty signatories, China will then be compelled 1 to take active steps to recover the territory she has lost in Manchuria - through the Setting up- of the new State.
AN ELABORATE CELEBRATION. (Received .this day at 9.30 a.m.) KOBE, September 14. Most elaborate arrangements are being made for celebrating the recognition of Manehukuo, including a monster reception at the Tokyo public hall. Members of the Cabinet will be speaking at popular displays, and there will be parades and lantern processions throughout Japan. <• ■ Bandit outrages continue in Manchuria and trains are derailed almost daily.
