ACCIDENT TO CART
HORS® OUT OF CONTROL. GISBORNE, September 12. When Mr J. Brother ton, aged 42, gardener at the Wairoa County Hospital, was driving his children to school in a cart on Friday morning, the horse got out of control on the Kopua Road, and the shafts of the vehicle broke. Moimica Bnethertan, aged 11, was thrown out, and a wheel passed over her thigh, fracturing it. She also suffered some abrasions. Mr Bretherton was kicked bv the horse and received internal injuries. The girl and her father Were admitted to hospital!, where an operation wa,s performed on Mr Bretherton, .whose condition is 'reported to be very serious.
