SUDDEN DEATH
FALL FROM TROLLY. TIMARU, September 12. John Roddick, a railway surfaceman, collapsed and fell from the trolly on which he Was riding, at 2.15 p.m. to-day. He was taken to hospital but died before admission, apparently of a heart seizure. He had been in the employ of the Railway Department for about thirty-five years. He Was a prominent South Canterbury athlete in his younger days and he captained ISmithe- Canterbury against the r British- Rugby team in (1908;.' 'Df late yeans he officiated) as a jidgA of wfregitling contests. An inquest will probably not be necessary.
FOUND DEAD ON ROAD.
CHRISTCHURCH, September 13.
John Douglas Scott, aged fifty-five, a retired farmer, living at 38 Francis Avenue, died suddenly in Lower Styx Rioad yesterday afternoon. He left home on his bicycle early in the afternoon for Brooklands. Apparently he was taken ill suddenly and stopped on the side of the road. His bicycle was found resting against a fence and his false teeth were beside the body.
