LOS ANGELES, September 8. The Coroner’s jury to-day found that Paul Bern died from .wounds self-inflicted, with suicidal intent, from an undetermined motive..
Bern married Jean Harlow', the film actress, two months ago. She declared that she did not understand the farewell message found near Bern’s body, addressed to “Dearest Dear,” and declaring that suicide; jvas the “only way to make good the frightful wrong I have done you, and to wipe out my abject humiliation.” George Clarken, Los Angeles, who was Bern’s insurance adviser, said that Bern married ten years ago, and was never divorced from the w'oman, who is a mental patient in a New York sanitarium.
A witness, Frank Webb, assistantsurgeon, testified that Bern, aged 42, had been in a nerVous run-down condition, and that lack of development would have caused nervousness and melancholia which might have caused the suicide.
Jean Harlow’s physicians reported her too lil to attend the inquest into the apparent suicide of her husband, Paul Bern.
The Coroner, Frank Nance, announced that he w'ould not attempt to compel her presence. , ... ..
