TANGLED WIRES
'PHONE EMPLOYEE’S REVENGE
(United Press Association —By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.)
~, LONDON, Aug. 24. Believinjjluinself unfairly dismissed from his position in the Post and Telephone Department at Paris, a man named Leharuge, is alleged to have taken revenge which is more humourous in the recounting than in the performance.
It is stated that he engaged four assistants, including a mechanic and a road-mender, and proceeded to tour Normandy investigating roadside telephone cabins, in which the telephone cables were grouped in hundreds. The telephone lines were mixed in a few minutes, creating babel over a vast area, and infuriating subscribers. Lehareuge will be charged with interference with the system, and obtaining free board and lodging by representing that the department would pay the bill§.
