SEDITION CHARGE
OVER PUBLICATION BRISBANE PAPER INVOLVED. (Australian Press Association.) BRISBANE, September 9. A former Christchurch, New Zealand, journalist, 'Marfen Beading, and George Melton, the editor and publisher respectively of the ‘'Brisbane Telegraph” were charged to-day with having published seditious matter under the heading “Premier versus People,” wherem a contributor, who signed himself “J. Martin” suggested that tho Premier of Queensland, Mr Forgan Smith, must be in sympathy with Communism, or otherwise he fcoiild not allow Communist processions.
’ The letter also urged the formation of a “New Guard” and urged a refusal to pay taxes,' adding :—“The people have the Government at their mercy, if only they have the courage to act.”
The defendants were remanded to September 15,
