OVER VICTORIAN NOMINATIONS.

The Australian Jockey Club offi--cials are perturbed at the fact that' only one Melbourne nomination has been received for the minor events at: it|S forthcoming spring meeting iat Sydney. In the past, there used to be at least one hundred nominations, and occasionally one hundred and fifty.
The decline is believed to be due to two reasons, namely, financial stringency and'the presence of an unusually strong New Zealand contingent of horses in readiness for the Sydney ear?, nival, which have frightened the Melbourne horses away,
ENGLISH ST. LEGER
LONDON, September 7
Unusual interest is being taken in the St. Leger. There are nineteen starters, including the Derby winner, f April the Fifth. The Agha Elian has four runners including Dastur and Firdauss.
