GUEST'S AT A TABLE
MASTER TON, Avgust 30
Within half a mile of the Mastenton Post Office there lives' an elderly invalid lady, .who ha.- near her window a bird table kept well supplied with food for her numerous 'feathered guest,; the little white-eyes are friendly—and constant in their attendance at table. Suet and syrup suit their taste, the latter 'being the prime favourite. This week a fine tui was seen feeding at th 6 table, within three feet of the window. His return is eagerly • looked for. During the recent snowstorm no fewer than wen speeier, of birds wwe seen- feeding in this garden. The pleasure they give more than compensates for the little trouble of pieviding food fo rthese useful and beautiful birds in their time of need—the cold winter months.' The family eat being well fed and kindly, no danger is experienced in this direction.
