-At the Mechanical Hare Inquiry today, Mr Mark Gosling, who was Chief ■Secretary in the Lang Administration, gate evidence that he knew Swindell, | but he had not been frequently in his company. When. a*sked whether he knew that raining under the permit system was illegal, witness replied: “That is a matter of opinion.” The Royal Commissioner interjected : ■“lt is not. It is a matter of law.” Witness added that he accepted any responsibility for what had been done. The hearing was adjourned.
