Before the Magistrate, Mr Lawry, to-day, Bernard Walter Williams, aged 21 of Dunedin charged. with making a false statement under the Marriage Act on May 27th at Waimatp, pleaded guilty and was committeed for sentence..

'• The police said that accused filled in marriage forms describing himself as Sir Earl. Bernard Eavland, a barohet, of . Nottingham. Subsequently, under that title, he married a girl in Sydenham. The ~ girl Knew him under his correct name. All particulars lie supplied to the registrar were false, hut his actions were more foolish than anything else. For. some, time he worked iff the Post Office as a messenger, and then went farming, and lately had been employed by the Seventh Day Adworking on . a commission basis, selling Bibles and other Christian literature. He could hot explain why.be. posed as a baronetj for he had gained nothing by it.
