BARRISTER’S FEES
DID NOT BURST INTO TEARS.

Portion of the evidence heard in a civil action in the Supreme Court related to the fees charged by . a wellknown barrister for certain work done on behalf of the plaintiff in the case. The barrister, giving evidence, said that the plaintiff saw him three day* before the Christinas vacation and, wanted to know what the costs would be. He told the plaintiff that bis firm had done a considerable amount of work for him over a period- of about sax months, and that he thought a seasonal''e. fee would be forty guineas. “Well how did lie take that,P” inquired'counsel for the deliaidants. “Well, lie did not seem too pleased, |,ut he mad.- no demur,” was the reply. Mr Justice Blair chuckled. “1 suppose lie took it as well ( . t) „l,| be expected?” suggested counsel for the defendants. 1 “That is so,” replied the barrister. “He did m '■ burst into tears, as he bud done on other occasions in my office.”
