CROQUET

HOKITIKA CLUB

The annual meeting of the Hokitika Croquet Club was held in the Town Hall yesterday afternoon. Mrs Saywell preside over* a goo.d attendance of members. Apologies were received for the absence of Mesdames Yarrall, Knights, Parkhill, W. Wilson, M. Houston and R. Lynn. The annual report was read by Mrs Preston, in the absence of the secretary, (Mrs Yarrall). This comp.imented the club on selecting and securing such an excellent site for their green which it is hoped will be available for play in November. The balance sheet which was read by the treasurer (Mrs R. Paterson), showed a credit balance which is highly satisfactory. The election of officers resulted as follows Captain, Mrs T. R. Saywell; Deputy-Captain, Mrs J. M. Robinson; Secretary, Mrs S. J. Preston; Treasurer, Mrs R. Paterson; Committee: Mesdames Lewis, Hart. Kernahan, Parkhill, Benjfjmin; Auditor, Mr L, Michel. Votes of thanks, were passed to Mrs Yarrall. for' her efforts in organising the, flower show, which proved* so successful, to Mrs R. Paterson for producing the operetta “Snow White,” to Mr D. Stevenson for supervising the laying down Of the green, and to the “Guardian”, The club have 'great hopes of erecting their pavilion almost immediately and putting the finishing touches on'the ground.
