ACCUSED IN COURT.
DEATH -OF iN.Z. WOMAN

Charged with haying murdered Hilda White, thirty-three, in Cente uriPark on July 27, Victor Francis Lamerto (oi< Januscherskyy, labourer, was requitted at the Central Police Copr:. Mr Sheahan (for Lameito) said that Lamerto was a foreigner, and the only evidence the. police, had against him was of a circumstantial character.

Lamerto’s witnesses were foreigners said 1 Mr Sheahan. One he understood, was a Maltese, and one >yas of, Italian blood. Lamerto would have difficulty, in preparing his case if he did net get bail. 7
Sergeant Caban (Police . Presecutor) said that about 7 aim. on July 27 the woman was found (lead in - Centennial Park. Death* was due to. .strangulation. Evidence. , would -, be. tendered .that Lamerto was,in, her company on the evening of July, 26, .and was, sqeh going from, a residential in thp, direction of,Centennial ?ark ! . Mr Sheahan .saidt there Wfiffi other, occupants of the . residential which had been,mentioned.!. If a per-, spp. had been seen with the., woman if did not mean that that person ..was the . murderer. It. - had. been - found that death ftad. taken,, place six hour? before the body was discovered. The only evidence - which might he offered was that Lamerto, if at all, was in the company of the woman some six hours before midnight. v .
.Miss White came to Australia four and a half years ago from Auckland.
