DEATH SENTENCE
FOR SPANISH RIOT LEADER.

A third officer was sentenced to twelve years’ imprisonment, while San d ur S°.’s son was acquitted. San Jprgo will be executed within fortyeight, hours, unless the president’ reprieves him, and this is only, possible, if the, Supreme Court recommends len-i iency. The Government favours a commutation, of the §entencfemnd Cabinet has met to decjde wlie|s|r to recommend mercy.

COMMUTATION OF SENTENCE.

' Following upon the Cabinet’s recommendation, for clemency, the President has commuted San Jargo’s sentence to imprisonment for life. .He.will probably be sent to a remote colonial island.
